To reignite the marital spark, they visit a trendy Manhattan bistro, where a case of mistaken identity hurtles them through the city at breakneck speeds, into non-stop adventure. Remembering what made them so special together, Phil and Claire take on a couple of corrupt cops, a top-level mobster—and a crazed cabbie—as their date becomes a night they’ll never forget.
The “Date Night” director Shawn Levy came up with the story concept during the date with his wife. Then he and screenwriter Josh Klausner tweaked the script six times with input from Tina Fey and Steve Carell, whom director Levy calls “two of the most intelligent, interesting people working in comedy today.”

Some of the best jokes in the movie are actually written by Tina itself. It is a common knowledge that Tina Fey is an accomplish writer specializing in comedy. She was the head writer of Saturday Night Live from 1999 to 2006 and she created her own TV sitcom 30 Rock.
